Photo Head to Footsies features men and women's shoes, as well as clothing and accessories from a variety of designers.

Fashion for women includes everything from casual, moderately-priced designs to evening wear, jewelry and handbags. The boutique's classy look sets a great ambiance for shopping.

The original Footsies, located at 24th and Strand, was an Island favorite for women's shoe shopping. After that location was destroyed by Hurricane Ike, co-owner of the Footsies store, Joyce Calver, decided to reopen on her own with a new look and feel.

"I wanted to bring a wide range of fashion back to the island, and move downtown forward with a store that offers locals and visitors a unique shopping experience," said Calver. "This location has a fresh fun look and with the addition of clothing from a broad range of lines I hope to keep customer service, with affordable pricing, a priority in this new location."

Head to Footsies carries more than 45 different lines of shoes including: Madeline Stuart, Yellow Box, Volatile, J Renee-Jessica Bennett, Jessica Simpson, Restricted Footwear, Kenneth Cole, Unlisted by Kenneth Cole, Kenneth Cole Mens, Ed Hardy Shoes, Caparros Corp, and Terrasoles, a green product.

Claver expresses that her store offers, "Fabulous fashion, sizes extra-small to double extra-large--equally cherished," for everyone to feel beautiful in her products. Clothing lines, ranging in price include; Mycra Pac, IC Collection, Russ Berens , SassyBax, Trueblue Clothing Jeans, Comfy, Cheyenne, Spanner, Cubism, Lindi, Abbie Mags, and Eileen Fisher. Eveningwear or special occasion dresses are by Tony Bowls Designs and Elliza J.

Including "green" aspects such as recyclable shopping bags, re-purposed antique décor, and low-e paint, Calver has created a whole new store. "One of our lines is even considered vegan-friendly, using no leather and hemp materials," explained Calver.

The location of the shop is inside a historic late 1800's building, with original ceilings, located on the popular Strand Street and owned by Mitchell Family Properties. The antique chandeliers and the décor of the shop fit great with the unique boutique shopping Galveston's Historic Downtown offers.

Another unique feature at Head to Footsies will be a "man corner" for the males who have to wait on the women shoppers. The area will offer leather lounge chairs and a television to entertain anyone having to wait while the women browse all the store has to offer. Calver said she wanted everyone to enjoy the shopping experience at Head to Footsies, even if it means the men get to watch sports and relax in a leather chair while they wait.

Head to Footsies also has their repeat clients and the economy in mind. Along with promotional sales and coupons throughout the year, the store also features a free to join Frequent Buyers Club. All customers who spend more than $500 in merchandise will receive 5% off future purchases for life.

Be on the lookout for upcoming fashion shows by Head to Footsies.
