I had been meaning to get back to The Spot for awhile. When I heard they had a blue cheese bacon burger, that cinched it. We arrived on a spring weekday evening so it wasnít overly crowded but the place was hopping. The proprietors have created quite a compound for eating and enjoying oneself in that seawall space. Ordering is quick and easy, and seating is oneís own choice. Of course we ordered a pitcher of Shiner Bock to enjoy while we waited for our food.
It turns out the blue cheese burger was ìburger of the monthî, which is a changing special. My friend ordered that specialty along with onion rings. He was certainly not disappointed: a big juicy burger loaded with those heart-stopping additions. The onion rings were fabulous as usual, probably the best on the island. The Spot is known for its fresh condiments bar, so everyone can add whatever lettuce, onion, tomato etc that they wish.
The Caribbean Salad with shrimp called out to me. It was even better than the description: fresh greens with strawberries, cucumber, mango and blue cheese, in a delicious fig vinaigrette dressing. Of course I had to try a few of my friends onion rings, just be sure they were really good. They were.
On the way out we were captured by the dessert area. We did manage to get away with only two scoops of Blue Bell each. They have great looking pastries as well.
The Spot has always been one of my favorite burger joints and the expanded menu provides something for everyone. If you are looking for a lively dining spot, this is for you. Very casual and family friendly. Great seawall views. If you go on a weekend plan to be patient, as the place is deservedly very popular.
