Purple Martin
The largest North American swallow, the Purple Martin gracefully flaps and glides while foraging for flying insects. It migrates to South America for winter then returns to North America to breed, often nesting in man-made bird houses. Adult males are iridescent bluish purple and the females and juveniles are duller with some gray.
