One of over 200 historical markers on the island, this marker is located at the final resting place of Warren D. C. Hall. The marker was erected in 1994 by the Texas Historical Commission.

Inscribed
“North Carolina native Warren DeWitt Clinton Hall was an early immigrant to Texas who took part in several military expeditions against Spain and Mexico. He served as acting Secretary of War for the Republic of Texas at the time of the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. A successful attorney and active supporter of Masonic activities, Hall lived in Galveston from 1842 until his death in 1867. Hall County in the Texas Panhandle is named in his honor.”
