Reddish Egret

The official bird of Galveston, the Reddish Egret is long-legged, long-necked wader.  It’s considered one of the most active herons and is often seen on the move stalking prey – running energetically, while using its wings to reduce glare on the water before stabbing a fish.

This White Morph Reddish Egret photo titled ‘I Spy with My Little Eye’ won First Place in the 2020 Week 2 FeatherFest Photo Contest.
