Social Distancing While Visiting the Island
While many of us have been out and about on Galveston island, we’ve noticed that there are a lot of folks enjoying outside spaces during this time of uncertainty. While we hope that you enjoy your time on the Island, please make sure you adhere to public health mandates, and before you make any decision to travel, visit Galveston.com for updates from the Galveston County Health Authority, the City of Galveston and the Center for Disease Control. Most importantly, stay home if you think you might be sick and be sure to practice social distancing.

When it comes to the mandate to practice social distancing, Galveston is a good place to be. With 32 miles of wide-open beaches, there are opportunities to roam about, take in some sea breezes and dip your toes in the Gulf waters.
It’s not just us saying it. According to Dr. Philip Keiser from the Galveston County Health District, a visit to Galveston’s beaches is a great option on many levels for a spring break vacation.
“Probably some of the best things that you can do is take your family out into open spaces, you know, coming to Galveston and spending a day on the beach would be a great thing to do because people are not crowded together,” he said. “Outdoor activities and things where people are not crowded together could be a good thing during this time of COVID-19.”
So, there you have it.
Of course, we want you to assess yourself. Don’t make the trip if you’re sick or have symptoms. We want you to have fun while you’re here. Here are some CDC guidelines to follow.
Once you do decide to visit the island, we have some recommendations below:
