Short-eared Owl
The Short-eared Owl has tufts of feathers resembling mammalian ears, with large eyes, a big head, a short neck, and broad wings.
They are usually easier to spot than some owls, as they live in open prairies and marshes and are often active during the day, usually dawn and dusk. Its irregular or floppy wing beat makes its flight resembles that of a moth or bat. It hunts for rodents by flying low, often hovering, then dropping on prey.
