Commemorating Juneteenth, the Galveston Railroad presents a conversation with Mr. George Lewis, retired railroad porter.  The Civil Rights Movement and the formation of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the nation’s first successful African American led labor union, greatly impacted the careers of Pullman Porters. George Lewis talks about his career as a porter and the memorable experiences and people he encountered along the way.  The Galveston Railroad Museum Oral History Program, supported by the  Dr. Leon Bromberg Charitable Trust Fund, includes a speaker series that can be enjoyed by the general public. A reception for the Mr. Lewis follows the presentation.  Complimentary Parking 2602 Santa Fe Place.
