The Galveston Railroad Museum will present CabooseFest: Hootenanny & Hayrides, Saturday, October 17, 10 am – 5 pm, at 2602 Santa Fe Place.

The new event celebrating fall will offer caboose hayrides, pumpkin patch, vendor marketplace, games, pie contest, chicken wing eating contest, live entertainment, and food court. All exhibits will be open during the festivities, and a screening of the classic film Ma and Pa Kettle will be shown on the outdoor jumbotron.

The Gypsy Joynt food court will feature smash burgers and a broad menu to please palates. A full line of beverages including ‘White Lightening Hayride Punch’ will be served. Master of Ceremonies M.C. Kevin “Catfish” Ward will oversee the festivities and present the folk/country duo Kirk Ford and Jim Ramirez, with a special performance by local artist and
performer Catherine Stroud.

To enter a pie or to register for the chicken wing eating contest go to galvestonrrmuseum.org or register on site. All food is freshly prepared by Gypsy Joynt. Prizes will be awarded at the end of each contest. Bystanders will indulge in candy, spices, popcorn, cookies, and cakes. Plan to stay for the day and take in the museum, including exhibits, trains, and enjoy the Hootenanny.

What’s a Hootenanny? An informal social gathering featuring folk music, an impromptu concert, or a whimsical term for an unnamed gadget. Come see for yourself. We invite you to play, sing, stomp, clap and whoop it up! This is a fun, family event.
Admission: Adults $15; Seniors, $12; Kids 12 and Under, $1 ; Military Free. Museum Members $10. Parking $5. Caboose Hayride $10. All other activities including games, etc. are included in the admission. Tickets online and at the door.
