sharon capoferri12/16/2008 2:01:00 AMi'm a local that loved the place prior to ike and even more after ike. they cater to the locals. i'm old in their book (43) but still get treated like a queen everytime i walk through the door, whether it be day or night. you cannot beat the ultimate nachos (or whatever they are called, you know, the ones with everything on them!!!!!) Being in the service industry myself, the group here has never been anything but the most attentive barkeeps (haha) on the island. Mike, don't stop what your doing!!!!!!!
Iron Man8/3/2008 8:59:00 PMFloat has more to offer than many of the bars on the island. Most people you ask will say that the place has one of the best atmospheres in the area, not to mention great specials (50 cent DRAFT ON WENSDAY!!!!). and like any other place, we may have our bad days and have problems with the jukebox and choose to pass some ocean breeze for some A/C. But I personally know many locals who love to go there and do everything from soak up some sun and enjoy a smoothie to playing beer pong and making new friends. I’ve had plenty of awesome times there and love all of the friendly staff, and im pretty sure most of the other customers do too. So my advice to you Galveston guy is just quit your complaining and give it another shot.
Incredible Hulk8/2/2008 5:56:00 PMGalveston Guy: To be honest with you, I think Float finally got onboard with the rest of the Island. They were the only bar that was completely open to air which is nice in the spring and fall (Which no one else offers). For reference: Hooters and Spot have A/C inside and open air outside. I stopped going to Float until they started putting on the A/C. Thank you Float staff for recommending it to the owners. Now that Float has delicious burritos, it is nice to come in a cool environment enjoy a meal, or go to the patio and enjoy the summer. As for the staff, could not ask for anything more. Tend to be quick and concise and if not they are polite and try to satisfy every customer. Thank you for an enjoyable experience.
Optimus Prime8/2/2008 4:58:00 PMWent to Float yesterday and had a great time. The juke box may have been broken and the windows closed, but it was over 100 degrees, found the A/C being on an enjoyable change to every other place on the island. Last time I was in school getting my U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Mate Unlimited tonnage license I remember salt air, water and electronics not mixing well together, may be why the unit was broke. I did leave Float early in the evening but returned later in the evening to see that owner was expedient in having the jukebox repaired. FLOAT IS A GREAT PLACE TO RELAX WITH A GREAT SHINER BOCK!!! The only thing they need to do is get some Russian Baltika (beer) stocked in there, and keep the A/C on.
z8/2/2008 3:48:00 PMFloat has great energy and an amazing staff. I have always had great service and great memories with my friends.
Surfyaga8/2/2008 3:03:00 PMgalvston guy you left too early. My friends and I had a great time and enjoyed the option of outdoor patio or shelter from the Aug HEAT and humidity. The bartenders were great and the price is right! thanks Float.
galveston guy8/1/2008 7:47:00 PMhuh? This place WAS awesome but went Aug 1 and the ALL doors were sealed up, no music, no open air pool bar and no people. Owner needs to clean house and get the party back. This place has gone from rockin to suckin beacuse the staff are too hot to get it open air like the rest of the island. Get rid of the crappy staff or you will be gone soon-I wanted to bring a big group here next weekend but not so sure. Please fix it cause I loved it.
M3/12/2008 4:50:00 PMThis place has the BEST jukebox on the island!! Great place to catch happy hour and people watch by the pool on a sunny day. Lovin' it!
