Texas Bands Slated To Headline Entertainment
Texas rock legends Blue October and Bowling for Soup will give headline performances at Mardi Gras! Galveston’s 109th celebration, taking place Feb. 14-25, 2020. Other entertainment highlights announced include Los Herederos de Nuevo León and Bidi Bidi Banda, who will headline the festival’s Fiesta Gras celebration on Feb. 16, and hip-hop legend Bun B, who will serve as Grand Marshal of the all-new Bumpin’ Bus Parade on Feb. 22. “This is by far our best band lineup of the last 10 years,” said Yagas Entertainment president Mike Dean, who is in his 10th year organizing the festival for the city of Galveston. “Concerts are part of what make the Mardi Gras experience different in Texas, and we are excited to bring in these great local bands and homegrown Texas talent.”

Blue October, which formed in Houston in 1995, has 14 top-40 charting singles, including the platinum hits “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean” from their 2006 platinum album “Foiled”. They released their first album, “The Answers”, in 1998. The band is comprised of Ryan Delahoussaye (multi-instrumentalist), Matt Noveskey (bass) and brothers Jeremy (drums) and Justin Furstenfeld (front man). They will perform live at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in downtown Galveston’s Saengerfest Park on the Corona Stage during the kick-off weekend of Mardi Gras! Galveston.

Bowling for Soup
Bowling for Soup, a Grammy-nominated pop punk band from Wichita Falls, Texas, has produced 19 albums in 25 years. The band consists of Jaret Reddick (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Burney (guitar, backing vocals), Gary Wiseman (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Rob Felicetti (bass, backing vocals, acoustic guitar). Best known for its singles “Girl All the Bad Guys Want”, “1985”, “Almost”, and “High School Never Ends”, the band is also known for performing the introductions to Nickelodeon TV show “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and Disney TV show “Phineas and Ferb”. They will perform live at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, on the Corona Stage.
Grand Marshal Bun B
Grammy-nominated hip hop legend Bun B will serve as Grand Marshal of the all-new Bumpin’ Bus Parade on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m., which will feature more than 20 decked-out party buses proceeding through downtown Galveston. The parade directly precedes the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade, the largest parade of Mardi Gras! Galveston, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

“Fiesta Gras” will return for its fourth year highlighting Hispanic heritage, including headline performances by popular Monterrey norteño group Los Herederos de Nuevo León at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, on the Corona Stage. Bidi Bidi Banda — Austin’s first all-star Selena Tribute, led by Stephanie Bergara — will perform at noon. Fiesta Gras festivities will feature two parades, a balcony party and shopping and dining options.
Electric Mardi Gras
For fans of electronic dance music, “Electric Mardi Gras” will return to downtown Galveston. This area will provide one big party with continuous concerts and beat-thumping DJs from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays (Feb. 14-15 and Feb. 21-22) during the celebration. Headliners DJ T3 and DJ Squared will play on Feb. 15 at 10 p.m.
