You’re invited to celebrate everything library on Rosenberg Day! This family-friendly festival is FREE and open to the public. Find events all day on the Library block of Sealy between 23rd and 24th Streets with activities inside and outside the library grounds.

Activities:
  • Live Music from DJ Bill and Galveston’s own The LineUp.
  • Friends of the Library Book Sale! Come find treasures to take home at one of the biggest book sales in the county!
  • Food Trucks including Galveston Island Taco Company and Cosmic Ice Cream.
  • Rummage Sale and Silent Auction: Take home a piece of Rosenberg Library history. Nab “retired” library furniture and objects – some are more than 100 years old! Bidding starts runs from 10 AM – 1 PM.
  • Facepainting for all ages! From 1 – 4 PM.
  • Family Fun Lawn Games! Enjoy Jenga, cornhole, Lawn Scrabble and more!
  • Children’s Nature Adventure: Explore the magic of springtime with our ladybug observation, our live chicken hatchery, and a special butterfly release.
  • Circulation Challenge: Enter to win a $30 gift card when you sign up for a library card for the first time, or check out three items with your existing card! Winners will be selected at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM. First 100 people to enter will receive a classy Rosenberg Library umbrella while supplies last.
  • Gaming at the Library! Try out different types of board games, video games and more as we show you all the gaming options Rosenberg Library has to offer!
  • Author Festival: Meet local authors in person! Authors include: James Anderson, Christine Hopkins, Forest Riggs, Tommie Boudreaux, John Cooper, Steve Alexander, Pat Jakobi, Jan Johnson, Roy Collins, III, Saralyn Richard, James L. Haley, Jackie Cole, Kerry L. Malone, Mackenzie Finklea, Mary Claire Haver.
  • Meet local partners including Galveston’s Own Farmers Market, League of Women Voters, St. Vincent’s, Resource Crisis Center, Galveston County Food Bank, Galveston College Library, MD Anderson, Hospitality ER, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, Island Grappling Company, Galveston Historical Foundation, and more!
  • Who was Henry Rosenberg? Visit our 4th floor Galveston and Texas History Center for a special, up-close look at photographs, objects, and documents related to our founder, Henry Rosenberg! History books and prints will also be available for purchase.

Where can I park?

Parking can be found on the north side of the library facing Ball Street.

Do I need a ticket/band/library card to get in?

This event is free to the public, so you can come and go as you please! We’d love it if you signed up for a library card, though!

What is Rosenberg Library?

Rosenberg Library is the first and oldest continuously running library in the state of Texas. It opened to Galvestonians in January of 1871 as the Galveston Mercantile Library, and later became Rosenberg Library in 1904. The rest is history!
