Cruise Fashionista
The Cruise Lady
Well, Lorraine’s friend “the Fashionista” is at it again. Booked a cruise for mid-November and – yep – she’s out shopping for a new wardrobe! DOH!
Her rationale? “Well, I’ve worn those on previous cruises….and I can’t wear them again! HULLO?
SEZ WHO? It’s a cruise – who’s gonna care whether you’ve worn them before? Think anyone will recognize them?
Don’t fret about your wardrobe – take what you want and wear what you like! Lorraine has a system for packing that makes it quite simple. In fact, she has cruised so often that now she simply places her suitcase on the bed, opens the closet, and says, “summer cruise” or “winter cruise” and the clothes mysteriously pack themselves – LOL!
One suitcase for 7 days or even 14 – (just wear everything twice) – and don’t worry about who might be in the corner whispering “she wore that last week” – besides it will most likely be a whole new “shipload” of cruisers.
Pick one color scheme….and mix and match….a couple of pair of nice pants for evenings – several blouses/tops – and a couple of scarves will do just fine! Plus, if you don’t plan to go to the dining room….hit the casual buffet in the shorts and flip-flops you’ve probably had on all day! ENJOY!
Another tip? Do not burden yourself with a lot of luggage….”fashionista” never takes less than three pieces to check (one usually filled with shoes) PLUS a carry-on……cheeszze! Lorraine checks her one and only suitcase and carries on her purse and a bottle of wine. What more does one need?
Cruising (unless you’re opting for one of the “premium” lines) is extremely casual so enjoy it that way! Don’t worry about how you look….nobody cares anyway! If you’re one of the dwindling number of cruisers who like to “dress” – go for it – if not – leave anything you won’t need at home.
Trust Lorraine – you’ll be happy on the night before departure when you don’t have to re-pack all the “stuff” you brought and never wore!
