Photo According to The New York Times:

It would be hard to find a trendier restaurant in Galveston than Sky Bar. It serves creative sushi combinations made from sea bass, tuna and salmon in an ambience that seems to have more in common with Santa Monica than the nearby Strand district of Victorian splendor.

Sky Bar's comprehensive menu freatures a wide variety of sushi and sashimi dishes, including items for non-sushi lovers.

Watch their chefs prepare sushi and sashimi from the comfortable sushi bar or enjoy items cooked from the grill in their elegantly-contemporary dining room.

The "Sky Dome" is available for private meetings.

dwight8/22/2008 7:04:00 PMi would have to agree with david--my wife and i drive to the island once a week from clear lake and skybar is always our first stop--the staff the great atmosphere and the hands down best sushi south of houston--the chef is one of the best most creative and neatest i have ever seen-- we also just discovered there steak--PRIME i think saltwater grill is the only other place on the island with prime steaks-do yourself a favor try SKY you will be completely amazed!
David Power8/20/2008 3:51:00 PMSky Bar is one of the greatest places in Galveston to dine! To that end, almost everyone I know eats there! They have a packed menu with wonderful appetizers and main courses that will delight just about anybody's taste. The happy hour menu offers a broad selection of sushi and hot or cold nibblies at very reasonable prices. They also have an impressive wine selection; I particularly enjoy the Markham Merlot. Sky Bar is impeccably immaculate. The staff are some of the most friendly and attentive people I have ever known. If you don’t like raw fish, try one of their steak dinners. I think they offer the best steak dinner you will find on the island.
Sushisushi7/28/2008 5:28:00 PMI think they're really trying & I'll give them credit for that. Its really hard to pull off a good sushi bar without traditional training, but that training is hard to find in the US. What makes a sushi bar good is attention to detail and simplicity. Simplicity is what makes sushi amazing. Also, careful to use fresh fish and produce and making things from scratch. Lose the carrots with sushi, please. Educate your customer on the health aspects of daikon and shiso with your sashimi. Parsley and most other greens don't go well with sushi flavors. You're already working hard, now show them what sushi in Galveston really can be!
michelle7/12/2008 10:08:00 PMFor the price(astronomical), the restaurant should be MUCH cleaner and the smell of less-than-fresh fish should not waft across the place everytime the chef opens the cooler. Some interesting rolls presented with flair, but the place is pretty dingy and very seedy. Go to Yamato's instead.
Crystal5/12/2008 7:28:00 PMLove this place!! Went there in December for my honeymoon, the wait staff was great and the sushi was terrific. I'm going back to Galveston in July and I am certainly going back.
Link Pippen2/21/2008 2:18:00 PMLove the seaweed salad and sushi. They have one of the finest steaks you'll ever eat. And the Chilean sea bass rocks. Plus, the staff acts like they're glad you're there.
Lee Roane2/21/2008 2:10:00 PMThey have a wonderful fillet if you are not in the mood for sushi.
cedric2/21/2008 2:07:00 PMI heard about the fillet as well! Yummie!
