A recently updated menu provides a divine culinary experience that a novice diner or the most critical foodie will appreciate. Inspired by simplicity, approachable elegance, and ample portions, Brian Robertson The new executive resort chef at The San Luis, has created a menu showcasing his progressive style.

"Our new additions are robust and elegant at the same time which is tricky but necessary in a prime steakhouse setting," added Robertson.

One of the standouts is the Pappardelle Fra Diavolo. It's a big hit with its hot and spicy flavors packed with jumbo lump crab, prawns, PEI mussels and lobster upon request and hints of wine, saffron and roasted tomatoes. The menu's new salmon entree is also popular accompanied by grilled mascarpone polenta that is crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The hot sautéed baby spinach and a tomato caper beurre blanc are very intense but feature uniquely balanced flavor profiles.

While there are new additions, the classics still hold true but may look different to the seasoned eye. Robertson and his team have overhauled the entire menu from a plating perspective as well.

"Our collective goal as a culinary team was to give some of the existing plates, that already tasted great, some new life from a design perspective," said Robertson. "People are so much more educated about cuisine these days and we want to give them what they expect, which is food that is beautiful to see, smell, and eat."

The Steakhouse continues to update its offerings as seasons and trends change but will always keep some of the classics that belong on the menu.

The Steakhouse has received accolades at every level — most recently it took a No. 1 spot on Tom Horan's Top Ten Texas Steakhouses and the coveted AAA Four-Diamond Award for the sixth consecutive year. The restaurant has also garnered recognition from Wine Spectator for its outstanding wine list, was featured as one of the "Best Steakhouses on the Texas Gulf Coast" by Texas Monthly magazine and received an invitation to join the "Distinguished Restaurants of North America Class of 2007."
