"Firsts in Galveston" is a mural located on 35th Street between Broadway and Sealy. Executed in 2001-02 on the wall of the African American Museum. Emanuel Heron's mural depicts individuals who were the first blacks to hold certain significant positions in Galveston, e.g., the first black policewoman, the first black surgeon, etc.
