Holiday Fun Continues in Galveston with Expanded Downtown Lanterns & Lights

Updated 20 days ago

In the tradition of ICE LAND and Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens, Galveston continues in the spirit of the season with more holiday fun in the historic downtown district.

An expanded Downtown Lanterns and Lights kicked off November 25th with acrobats, entertainers, music – and snow! This year’s display features a 30-foot-tall façade of Jacob Marley’s office building as depicted in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol amid lights, decorations and a Christmas tree.

Downtown Lanterns and Lights continues nightly through Jan. 1 and will include an interactive photo frame and a giant snow globe for visitors to enjoy on designated weekends. The lights are part of a major décor overhaul encompassing the main corridors of the island’s charming, 36-block historic downtown district. Lights are glistening throughout downtown from 20th to 25th streets on The Strand as well as 20th to 23rd streets along Postoffice Street.
