Mexican Food Options for Galveston Restaurant Week

Updated 181 days ago

There is an abundance of seafood, Italian and steakhouses that are offering wonderful deals during Galveston Restaurant Week, but the dark horse of this year's event is the Mexican cuisine that is being offered. Taquilo's Tex-Mex Cantina is a Restaurant Week veteran that always delivers delicious offerings. This year, we are happy to announce another Mexican restaurant joining us: Tortuga Mexican Kitchen. With such proximity to Mexico, Texans have adopted their own flavor of food called Tex-Mex, and these Galveston favorites have dialed up wonderful offerings for the 2018 Galveston Restaurant Week.

Taquilo's Tex-Mex Cantina

Taquilo's Tex-Mex Cantina is located in the heart of downtown Galveston at the corner of Postoffice Street and 21st. The eatery is part of Galveston Restaurant Group, a locally-owned company that has brought the “art of good eating” to patrons since 1997. Created by Johnny Smecca, Joey Smecca and Danny Hart, they opened their first restaurant, Saltwater Grill, in 1998, located in the heart of the Galveston Arts & Entertainment District.

Tortuga Mexican Kitchen

The name, Tortuga Coastal Mexican Cantina, is derived from this simple, noble creature whose life creates so much happiness. The wonderful and unique dishes on the menu capture the essence of the same tropical flavors. Yet the real inspiration comes from people who need very little in the way of an excuse to celebrate life.

Relax at Tortuga's with family and friends while enjoying the fun and flavors of Mexico. The Tortuga staff always greets everyone with a warm smile and a bountiful basket of warm corn tortilla chips, freshly prepared. Nothing goes better with their chips than their famous salsa! It too is made fresh daily with only the freshest tomatoes, onions and spices available. Freshness is also the secret of the numerous dishes made with unforgettable flavors.
