New Kids on the Block

Updated 622 days ago

The island is on the move, as evidenced by new businesses that are capturing the ambiance and excitement of historic downtown Galveston, a veritable treasure chest of culture – from the 19th-century architecture to its museums, galleries and theaters.

On the culinary front, be sure to check out these “New Kids on the Block” that are offering up their flavor to the mix:

Harborside Mercantile
2121 The Strand, Ph: 409-770-0690
Harborside Mercantile is a quaint new restaurant brought to you by Ricky Craig, of Houston's Hubcap Grill, and Joshua Martinez, former Chicken Ranch owner. The new eatery features Southern coastal food, including homestyle Po' boys, muffuletta sandwiches, and seafood platters.

The Mercantile purchases only the freshest local seafood each day, and lets the day's catch show up as specials. And the meats for the Po' boys are smoked on site.

Harborside Mercantile is located across from the new Hendley Green, and in the middle of the downtown shopping district.

Prepare for some of the finest cuisine – and some of the most exceptional customer service – you'll find anywhere. Wine and beer are also available.
