Ribs Smoked to Perfection
There is a point of agreement among all Texas: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH BBQ! That being the Lone Star State mantra, it is time to introduce Galveston Bar-B-Que. This eatery located in Downtown Galveston has pit-masters who have been operating in various locations since 1947. As you might expect, the ribs here are smoked filled and still retain the juiciness that that results from cooking low and slow. Other menu items include a moist brisket, chicken and spicy southern links The rich potato salad is southern style – creamy with a kick!
The prices here are noteworthy a generous rib plate costing only $12.00. Service is quick. On the day, I visited carryout customers were in and out while the phone was still ringing.
Perhaps the best news about Galveston Bar-B-Que is that it is open late on Friday and Saturday until 3:30 am. NOW you know where to go after the night enjoying Galveston's Nightlife on the Weekends.

Crab Cakes, Gumbo and Easy Parking
The Seafood Sandwich Shop offers diners delicious free seafood, located in a convenient spot with fast in and out parking. On the day I dined, I choose to sample Southern Shrimp and Crab Gumbo and their grilled Crab Cakes. The gumbo was well seasoned with just a hint of heat with generous size shrimp, and crab. The grilled Crab Cakes were indeed grilled, filled with crab and not a lot of filler.
On the day I was there, the phone was ringing off the hook and carryout customers were in and out. Popular items included their Personal Pizzas, which can include grilled shrimp, steak or chicken as a topped. Their shrimp, fish, chicken or steak sandwiches are available fried, grilled, or blackened. In addition, intriguing side dishes include Fried Okra, and Chili-Cheese Fries. Located in the little strip mall located at the corner of Seawall and Coveview, diners can choose a sit-down dining experience or can call in and get a quick carry-out to take on your trip to down the Island to the beach.

Traditional Favorites with International Flair
Joe's Seafood is one of those places locals depend on for a hot, dependable lunch during a busy work day. The fish, oysters, crawfish, calamari and shrimp are always fresh and fried perfectly without any greasy after taste. But Joe's also has some unexpected small treasures. For example, their Crispy Fried Chicken Wings paired with rice and gravy is filling as well as delicious. Joe's Sweet Sour Chicken and Pork not only features generous pieces, the sauce is robust and sticks to each and every morsel.
Joe's also has some of the freshest, cool and crisp lettuce salads on the Island. An added bonus you'll enjoy along with the rest of their large, varietal, and inexpensive menu.

A New Favorite Hangout
The Huli Huli Hut Café and Bar is already a Facebook sensation. It has a full bar, lots of dining area and a menu that includes some exotic choices alongside the usual suspects.
On the day I dined, I choose the most exotic burger I could find on the menu. I choose the Bonzai Bacon Burger, a unique combination of a thick, juicy burger combination of ground beef and ground bacon. That combination was topped with melted Swiss, grilled pineapple, grilled red onions with a smattering of grilled jalapenos. Improbably delicious!!!
Other interesting items on the menu includes Riptide Jalapenos which featured jalapenos stuffed with cheddar or cream cheese; fried pickles and others. One of the most popular Facebook posts is their seasoned, rotisserie chicken which is served in a plate accompanied with rice pilaf and fresh vegetables.
Once again, the prices here provide generous portions that can fill up the family without breaking the family vacation budget.
