Wings was established in 1978 by brothers Shaul and Meir Levy. Coming to America with a dream of opening up their own business, they worked diligently in their humble beginnings for various employers. Realizing the need to create a renowned, legitimate beachwear store, Shaul and Meir opened their first store in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
After purchasing a building from its previous owner, the sign above the store read "KINGS." Agreeing not to use the same name already present on the building, they realized it would be a shame to dispose of the large, well-lit sign. Instead, Shaul and Meir decided to remove the first letter and designate a replacement. Among the possible options that arose included: ""Bings," "Dings," "Rings," "Sings," and, finally "Wings." They decided to remove the 'K' from the sign and replace it with the letter 'W'. Until this day, Wings remains the name behind a true success story.
Today, Wings serves millions of people each year. There are 30 stores in six states and plans for future expansion. The underlying theme behind the business is to build customer loyalty through high quality products and value pricing. Their customers have come to expect the best in beach and sportswear. Wings has delivered in the past and is working hard to continue our commitment to you, their customers.
