Exciting plans are well underway for the 18th annual Grand Kids Festival, presented by The Grand 1894 Opera House. Set for Saturday April 6, 2013 from 10am to 5pm, the festival will take place on Postoffice Street from 20th to 23rd streets, in beautiful historic downtown Galveston.
The Grand Kids Festival was created as a "friend-raiser" for The Grand 1894 Opera House and its children's programming. Now in its 18th year, the festival was designed as an avenue to introduce children and families to the arts. The festival will feature six entertainment areas, three blocks of activity and vendor booths as well as the petting zoo, a rock wall, inflatable attractions, a bubble pond, chalk art and more.

An annual highlight of the festival is the production staged by Missoula Children’s Theatre. Staged at The Grand as a residency by Missoula Children's Theatre and sponsored by Target, area students from Kindergarten through high school are invited to audition for a role in this original musical adaptation. As a special highlight for this year's upcoming Grand Kids Festival, set for Saturday, April 6th, performances will be given at 11am and 1pm on stage at The Grand. ). The Grand will hold an open audition for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Jack and the Beanstalk” to be held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at The Grand 1894 Opera House .
