Today's trip by the partyboat Texsun II out of Galveston's Pier 19 was a 12 hour charter by Southwest Ocean Services Co. of Houston. Their group of 48 was headed up by Jake Poroo and his son Mike. With Capt. Shawn Clark a the helm, they headed to the SSE after passage through the bay and entering the Gulf of Mexico. With seas of 2 ft. or less forecast, the 50 mile run out, and the entire day was nothing but smooth sailing. Capt. Johnny Williams was also aboard, out for sort of a "busman's holiday" and working the deck a bit, too.
Fishing over assorted bottom structure in the area's 100 ft. deep waters included rock formations and wrecks. Their squid and sardine baits assisted in bringing up this catch:

- 90 red snapper - the 2 heaviest were 18# each.

The past four bay and jetty trips show that for those days, "jaws" of a sort, although on a smaller scale that in the movie's 30 footer, and of multiple species, were at home. Along with the others species that were caught, things were a bit "sharky" Saturday, Sunday and Monday. So if it's always been your desire to catch and eat one of these sharks, call 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to make your reservations for one of these four hour bay/jetty trips.

On both of these trips, as is usual, some hardhead catfish, undersized sharks and other unwanted or illegal species were caught and released. What these reports do show is that a variety of species may be caught and you never know who's going to catch what. To get in on some of this variety fishing with your family, give the office a call at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to make your reservations to meet and fish with Capt. Clark and his great Crew. See the photo of Capt. Clark with this afternoon's catch .

The morning 4 hour bay and jetty fishing trip by the partyboat Texsun II was taken with Capt. Shawn Clark at the helm. With 43 passengers aboard, using an assortment of baits including pieces of cut squid and whole Spanish sardines, the majority of the fishing was done at the North and South Jetties. This morning catch was made up of kingfish, blacktip shark, 10 sharpnose shark, bonnethead shark, stingray, 35 Spanish mackerel, bull redfish of 20#, numerous undersize sharks and Spanish mackerel.
Speaking of sharks, here's a shark story that doesn't have a shark being caught, according to Capt. Clark..."The story is that a boy on board, Zach Dajda, wanted to catch a shark. That's it, just a shark. Near the end of the trip, still with no shark, he was becoming disappointed. Then his rod bent over and line was ripping off the reel. Nearby were Glenn Graham and his son Glenn Graham, Jr., experienced fishermen who realized Zach needed help. With their skillful coaching and Zach's father's cheerleading, Zach landed the bull red, about 20#, which I gaffed. It was nice to see such teamwork and the excitement of a kid catching a big fish and it makes a great story".
Also on this trip was a group of families from Anderson, Texas. Give their group photo a look, along with Zach, his helpers and Zack's bull redfish. Get on one of these bay & jetty trips for your shot at a photo op.Reserve your spot on the boat for one of these catches by calling the office at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.

Saturday Morning Trip
July 15, 2006
On this bay and jetty fishing trip by the partyboat Texsun II, Capt. Shawn Clark had the 35 fishermen aboard working the waters around the ends of Galveston's North and South jetties.
Using mostly cut squid baits, they reeled up this catch:
- 3 blacktip shark
- 6 Atlantic sharpnose shark
- 1 stingray
- 11 whiting
- 1 Spanish mackerel
- 1 Florida pompano
- 1 red snapper
As can be seen, the sharks did their job, along with some of the other usual suspects. The pompano and red snapper were a little unusual, but not rare by any means. To get on one of these economical trips, $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, come by the office at Galveston's Pier 19 or call them at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.
Today's morning trip was also run to the area of the concrete ship Selma, that is a little North of Seawolf Park on Pelican Island, then on to the north Galveston jetty. Again, Capt. Shawn Clark was at the wheel - this time he had 43 fishermen aboard. Their catch was made up of the following:
- A limit of blacktip sharks (1 per person)
- 1 red snapper of 14 1/2 inches, released
- 2 bull redfish to 17 #
- 7 gafftop catfish
On both Wednesday and today's trip there were also many hardhead catfish which were caught and released. The shark bite is apparently on, too. Get on the Texsun II soon for your shot at them. You might also get to see a bit of Galveston Bay history close up, the concrete ship Selma. Just call the office at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to make your reservations and secure your own spot on the boat.
This morning bay and jetty trip by the partyboat Texsun II was run with Capt. Shawn Clark at the wheel. Leaving Pier 19 with 19 fishermen aboard, they fished the waters around the concrete ship Selma and the North Jetty. Their baits enticed this catch to their hooks:
- A limit of blacktip sharks (1 per person)
- 3 bull redfish to 25#
- 4 gafftop catfish
- 2 sand trout
Today's four hour bay and jetty fishing trip by the partyboat Texsun II was headed up by Capt. Johnny Williams. He had the 36 passengers fishing at the concrete ship (The Selma, near Seawolf Park), also the South Jetty and North Jetty.
With cut squid for bait, they brought up the following catch:
- A boat limit of blacktip shark
- 3 redfish
- 9 gafftop catfish
- 8 whiting
- 3 sand trout
Fortunately, the rain approaching from the West held off until after they returned to Galveston's Pier 19. As has been stated before, these four hour bay and jetty fishing trips are an ideal family fishing outing. With a cost of $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, the price is right, too. While all of these trips don't have sharks in the catch, many do, and most youngsters it seems would rather catch a shark of any size than a 20# snapper. If you don't believe it, ask yours...the shark will win out the vast majority of the time.
To reserve your spot on the Texsun II for one of these trips, give the office a call at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.
This afternoon's 4 hour bay and jetty fishing trip by the partyboat Texsun II had 43 passengers on board. Capt. Shawn Clark had them fishing at various spots around the South Jetty. These four hour bay & jetty fishing trips area a good fit for families who want to do some partyboat fishing but don't want to go offshore for the day. With the tackle and bait included in the $25 adult fare and $15 for children 12 and under, the cost is a good fit also.
To reserve your spot on the Texsun II for one of these trips, give the office a call at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.

- 13 Atlantic sharpnose shark
- 2 black tip shark to 20#
- 11 Gulf whiting and other assorted bottom fish
These four hour bay and jetty trips offer not only the fishing experience at a relatively low cost, they also are an excellent sightseeing opportunity with the assorted ships, boats and gulls that abound. Most trips, but not all, will have some sharks as part of the catch. It's a given that you won't find a bigger smile on the boat or at the dock than the one on a kid's face who's caught a shark. At a cost of $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, it's four hour family fishing at a very reasonable cost.To reserve your spot on the Texsun II for one of these trips, give the office a call at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.

This bay and jetty fishing trip was run with Capt. Shawn Clark at the helm. Leaving Galveston's Pier 19 with 20 fishermen aboard, the run began to the fishing area around the end of Galveston's jetties. Using cut squid and whole Spanish sardines baits, they fished from the bottom to the near surface. Their catch included the following:
- 1 Spanish mackerel
- 6 Atlantic sharpnose shark
- 5 kingfish to 18#
- An assortment of other botto fish.
One of the trip's highlights was the kingfish caught by 9 year old Hunter Pettis from Azle. You never know what's going to be caught next to you or wy whom on any fishing trip, and with the near perfect weather and water clarity right now, the kingfish made one of their occasional appearances on a bay and jetty trip. To see what you can come up with, you can call 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to make your reservations. They can answer all your questions and help plan your fishing trip.

Using uncut squid baits for the most part, they reeled in this catch:
- 4 bull redfish to 22#, tagged and kept.
- 3 bull redfish, released
- 1 black drum
- 2 blacktip shark

These four hour bay & jetty fishing trips by the Texsun II are indeed an opportunity for family fishing without having to spend all day to experience it. Not only is the fishing situation there, these trips also give some exposure to the sights and sounds of the bay that you can't get from a beach or pier. Capt. Shawn and his crew also look forward to seeing you and your family and doing their part to expand your bay and jetty fishing experience.
To reserve your spot on the Texsun II for one of these trips, give the office a call at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853.
The partyboat Texsun II, with Capt. Shawn Clark at the wheel, was on a morning bay and jetty trip with 35 fishermen aboard. Fishing the bottom area around Galveston's South Jetty, while using mostly cut squid for bait, produced this catch: Bull redfish, Atlantic sharpnose shark, gafftop catfish, whiting and blacktip shark.
These four hour trips are an opportunity to do some relaxed fishing at an attractive price. That's $25 for adults and $15 for children age twelve and under. The sightseeing is also there for taking in, such as sighting surfacing dolphin, the working shrimpboats, passing big ships and of course, those numerous and virtually always in sight, pelicans and seagulls.
Give the office a call at either 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to check on trip times scheduled and to make reservations, if you would like to get in on this bay and jetty fishing experience.

They feature a shorter trip length and a lower cost per person, $50 for adults and $40 for children 12 and under. Give the office a call at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to make your reservations. This shorter trip length may be just what you are looking for in an offshore fishing trip.
This morning's 4 hour bay and jetty fishing trip by the partyboat Texsun II was run with Capt. Shawn Clark at the helm. He had the 30 fishermen dropping their baits at several spots around the Galveston Jetties. Using mostly cut squid for bait, they brought up the following catch:
- 1 Spanish mackerel
- 4 Atlantic sharpnose shark
- 14 bull redfish, of which 5 were tagged and placed in the icebox. Ten were released.
- 1 ling - 45#
Although that 45# ling is a somewhat uncommon catch on one of these bay and jetty fishing trips, it was indeed a welcome addition. Those bull redfish are some real string-pullers, too, and are a more common catch, but surely not on every trip. Call the office at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to check on trip scheduling and to make reservations. Get on board, there could be a ling out there with your name on it, even if it does have to be an "uncommon" one.

- 3 bull redfish
- 1 40# stingray
These four hour bay trips not only have the fishing to enjoy in a family atmosphere, but the opportunity of a sightseeing adventure close up. Being out on the water and probably seeing porpoise, working shrimp boats, passing ships and, of course, the seagulls. These trips are a boating opportunity for the family that could include all of those fishing and sightseeing items. Give the office a call at 409-762-8808 or 713-223-4853 to make your reservations...or just to check when trips are scheduled. At $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, it's almost a "must do" item when on The Island.
