Photo Spectre specializes in both corporate and private groups seeking the finest in offshore fishing and FUN!

Spectre is conveniently located and based out of Texas’ premiere marina – the Galveston Yacht Basin on Galveston Island, Texas. This select location, and the powerful and dependable performance of our new 35ft Pursuit center console, offers fast access to some of the best game and sport fishing along the Texas Coast. The versatility of Pursuit’s largest center console allows us to set up for both bottom fishing and trolling even on day charters. With speeds of up to 50 mph on tap, Spectre can range out across the Texas Gulf waters and be first to the fishing grounds.

While Spectre is an all business offshore fishing machine it also a safe, comfortable, and very stylish vessel. Spectre carries a full array of the newest marine electronics and has fully backed up and separate systems for communications, navigation, and fish finding. An onboard satellite telephone is also part of Spectre's communications system.

You can escape the race-paced city life for a great day of offshore fishing, or book a sunset beach front or harbor cruise on board Spectre.

We look forward to you joining us on board Spectre for an exciting blue water fishing adventure. If you are interested in booking an offshore trip, or if you have any additional questions, please feel free to give us a call.

January thru March Trips
Spectre books a limited number of trips in Texas and in Louisiana for tuna and wahoo.

The tuna trips (not run during 2006 owing to new boat delivery and to the offshore conditions and logistics in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina) are run in South Louisiana in a prolific area known as the Midnight Lump. The yellowfin tuna is one of the worlds most popular fish and is a powerful fighter and tackle taxing catch. The average yellowfin tuna is in the 100 lbs range. The wahoo trips run in both Texas and Louisiana are incredible at this time of year and result in multiple strikes. Wahoo average 50-75 lbs during this time of the year.

April thru September Trips
This is the best time of the year to fish and is the primary fishing season in the Gulf of Mexico. The Texas weather conditions are generally mild and the Gulf of Mexico seas are moderate and relatively calm.

The primary fish our customers request is the red snapper – offshore Texas is one of the best areas in the world for these fish. The recreational snapper season opens on April 21, 2006 and we book up the weekends first. We also catch a variety of other fish both bottom fishing and trolling. Dolphin known as mahi-mahi and dorado are one of the premier sport fish in any tropical waters. After you experience a big bull exploding the surface and tail-walking or sight casting to the school chicken dolphin you will be hooked.

Smoker king mackerel are available during this time as well – book one of special Tournament Pro charters with Capt. Bill Platt , a well known full time SKA Tournament Professional and multi-time winner on the SKA circuit, and he and Capt. Steve will get you a real shot at a true trophy smoker king mackerel.

When you are ready for a big fight we will lock down the drag on a big reel and go after amberjacks which are pound for pound one of the hardest fighting fish in any waters.

It gets hot in Texas during August – but the fish and blue water are there and so are we. We typically bottom fish earlier in the morning and troll as it heats up later in the day. Don’t worry - Spectre is a fast boat and carries plenty of ice and drinks – it’s a fun time to be offshore.

September thru December Trips
The Gulf fishing slows down some owing to the prevailing weather patterns (and hurricanes during 2005) yet there is excellent fishing to be found offshore. Many times the Gulf flattens out and the “bite turns on” around these fronts. You can experience great fishing during these months. The Federal recreational red snapper season closes on October 31 but we generally locate snapper closer in as there is less fishing pressure at this time of year. The Galveston area has a prolific redfish run (bull reds) and on some trips during September and October we have hooked a fish on almost every fresh mullet bait presented.
