| Rating | Rated by | Date | Review | | martha mcilroy | 8/15/2008 6:45:00 PM | this place should be turned in to the health dept. it was absolutely disgusting. we left after only one night. the bedspread had mildew spots, the mattress was stained, no trash can, no lock on the door, and they gave us one towel for a family of four and expected us to reuse it the next day. | | klwhee | 8/5/2008 10:29:00 AM | We spent a week here and we loved it. Sure the motel is not a 5 star motel, but we knew that when we reserved it. It may not have fitted sheets and the walls could use some paint. But the a/c worked great (very cold) and the staff so so friendly. The private balcony overlooking the gulf and the short walk to the beach can not be beat. The kids loved feeding the seagulls every morning from our balcony, and then spending the day at Stewart beach. Parking under the building out of the sun was a plus as well. I'm sure you could pick it apart with negative finds. But we were not there just for the room, We were there for the beach and atmosphere, and we got a lot of it. We would defiantly stay here again when we come back. | | ew | 8/4/2008 9:35:00 PM | worst place in Galveston, broken beds, mold, buggs, including a carpet full of sandfleas. Look before you pay as there are no refund signs everywhere for a reason. | | bj | 7/20/2008 9:21:00 PM | this place is filthy. mold in the bathroom. bed held up with a phone book. no phones in the room. no remotes in the room. key deposit. ceiling where the ac is mounted nasty. towels with hair balls in them . the sign on the inside of the room door is all wrong. staff did nothing about a chair that was taken off our balcony while we were gone. this motel should be turned into the health department. | | Jason & Christi | 7/11/2008 9:55:00 PM | We thought the place was awesome. And the price was also great to be right on the beach. The staff was friendly. And we did have clean towels and bedspreads. As well as locks on the door.
The thing that was most enjoyable about the motel was the deck on top that overlooked the ocean. We were up there everynight after we took a walk down the beach. Very romantic for an older motel. | | Julie and Linda | 7/11/2008 8:25:00 AM | We have been going to the Sandpiper Beach Motel for the past few years. We are sisters and this is our "Sister Trip" place. It is located right at Stewart Beach. It is old but it is clean and comfortable. Over the years the rooms have been updated. Ok, they could stand to buy new towels but there are worse things in life. | | Starla Sliger | 7/7/2008 1:04:00 PM | Had a blast July 4th weekend!!! Thank you to the staff..you all are awesome!!!My husband and I plan on visiting again..
| | Starla Sliger | 6/18/2008 2:48:00 PM | My husband and I stayed @ The Sandpiper a couple of weekends ago and we had a blast! The staff was great and the rooms were clean. We enjoyed the pool and had a short walk to the beach. We ejoyed ourselves so much I have booked us a room for July 4th thru the weekend!(and we had locks on our door:).Thank you to the staff @ The Sandpiper! | | Memorial Day Weekend | 5/26/2008 12:06:00 PM | As a frequent traveler to Galveston, I have highly enjoy myself most of the time. However this time was extremely different. This was the first time I stayed at the Sandpiper Motel and was highly disappointed. The hotel itself is filthy, the rooms were filthy and extremely small. We found old beer cans underneath our bed that were not there from us.There were no trash cans in the room. There are also no locks on the doors; there are ropes used to secure the door. The staff wasn't that pleasant either. When requesting new towels for the day, we were told they did not have any.The website for the hotel doesn't quite layout this picture. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had in Galveston.I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. | | silver waters | 5/18/2008 7:18:00 PM | WE HAD A VERY GOOD TIME HERE AT THE SANDPIPER MOTEL. THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF WAS EXTREMELY NICE AND HELPFUL. THE ROOMS WERE VERY COMFY AND CLEAN CONSIDERING THE BUILDING IS OLD. THE UPSTAIRS DECK WITH THE VIEW OF THE GULF WAS AWESOME. WITH SUMMER COMING I KNOW WE WILL STAY HERE AGAIN. | | D. HARRIS | 5/10/2008 9:26:00 AM | WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME HERE. THE STAFF WERE HELPFUL AND PLEASANT. THE MOTEL IS OLDER, BUT THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN. THE VIEW WAS WONDERFUL AND WE WALKED RIGHT OUT ONTO THE BEACH. WE WILL STAY AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. IF YOU GET TO GALVESTON BE SURE TO STAY HERE. | | Maxine Newquist | 4/27/2008 6:14:00 PM | I would not recommend this place for any one to stay. I wouldn't want my dog to stay here. The place was filthy, the bedspread had mold on them , the sheets were real old and worn. I hated the whole time that we were there. The next night we stayed somewhere else. I will tell anyone that ask me not to stay there. Next time I will stay in my car before I stay there. |
