The Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston, is a governmental entity created by a special act of the Texas Legislature in 1962 for the purpose of directing all tourism efforts for Galveston.
The State of Texas requires that a nine-member board be appointed by the City Council, with four members appointed on alternate years for two-year terms and a City Council representative appointed annually.
The Park Board employs a full-time, year-round staff with additional seasonal employees as needed.
The mission statement of the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston is to position Galveston Island among the top five tourist destinations in the State of Texas by accepting responsibility for Galveston's number one industry: Tourism. They are responsible for promoting Galveston Island, its diversity and natural resources, and are committed to sustaining a world-class organization through visionary leadership, empowerment of staff, human development and effective appropriation of resources.

- Kelly de Schaun, Executive Director - General Manager for the operations of the properties and programs under the jurisdiction and leadership of the Park Board of Trustees, including but not limited to the departments of Beach Maintenance, Beach Patrol, Park Management and Tourism Development as well as the properties of Stewart Beach, Dellanera RV Park, R.A. Apffel Park and Seawolf Park and the Visitors Centers. Works closely with the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders to address issues that affect tourism on the island.
- Mario Rabago, Deputy Director - Directly supervises all programs and projects related to the maintenance and improvement of the beaches and properties under the stewardship of the Park Board. Interfaces with the Beach Management Advisory Committee and other interested stakeholders. In the absence of the Executive Director, performs the necessary duties to ensure seamless operations.
- Maria "Joji" Barnett, Administrative Assistant I Serves as Board Reporter for the Board of Trustees with the responsibility of formulating, posting and distributing meeting notices, recording and transcribing minutes of Board meetings. Prepares official correspondence and other documents and reports for the Board and the Executive office.
- Shaulonda Rittenhouse, Administrative Assistant II Responsible for the general day to day operations of the office, records retention and HR documentation. Answers Park Board phones and assists visitors. Prepares departmental reports for the Beach Parks, Beach Cleaning, Beach Patrol, and processes Park Board Beach Passes.
