Galveston.com Review I joined a friend for lunch recently. We wanted to enjoy a view of the water, so Miller's came to mind. We arrived ahead of the lunch crowd so we could get a Gulf view. We were seated right away and had menus in no time. Big glasses of ice tea were obligatory, of course. My inclination was to try out one of their plate lunches, which include entree and two sides. I chose the grilled chicken, with a half baked potato and small salad. It was good American fare, simply prepared, tasty, and well within anyone's cholesterol, fat or sodium levels for the day. The chicken was pan-grilled and quite a large serving. The half potato was enough for about any appetite. Salad was fresh with a nice variety of veggies, and a tasty blue cheese dressing.
My friend ordered a lump crab and avocado salad, for which I was initially envious. It arrived looking beautiful, but she found the crab to be warm rather than chilled. The waitress assured us it was fresh, and just warmed in the microwave (this did seem unusual to us). The warm crabmeat had browned the generous pieces of avocado which surrounded it. My friend ate about half her salad and said it was OK but not great.
So we give our lunch offerings one thumb(s) up, and one so-so. Service was excellent, even as they became busy with the lunch customers. The owners have done a lovely job with maintaining the quality of renovations. Miller's is a come-as-you-are and family-friendly restaurant with a menu offering something for every taste.
