Movie on the Strand: Psycho Grab a blanket or lawn chair and join us at Saengerfest Park for the 1960 suspense thriller, Psycho. Movie Night on the Strand was introduced this spring and has turned into a huge hit with both visitors and locals. We are pleased that the viewing of Psycho coincides with this year’s Lofts Tour. Psycho was directed by auteur Alfred Hitchcock, from the screenplay by Joseph Stefano about a psychotic killer. It is based on the novel of the same name by Robert Bloch, which was in turn inspired by the crimes of Wisconsin murderer Ed Gein.[1] The film depicts the encounter between a secretary, Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), who is in hiding at a motel after embezzling from her employer, and the motel's owner, the lonely Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). |

The museum is asking the public to share their stories for possible inclusion. The exhibit tells the broad, national account about African Americans in World War II. Galveston County Historical Museum’s goal is to use the exhibit as a catalyst for collecting and highlighting local storieswhich will then remain in the permanent archives of the museum. Community members who have a personal story, or who would like the share the information of a relative who served, are asked to please contact the museum to make sure this important information is saved for posterity.
