Beach Renourishment Now Underway on Galveston Isle
Galveston Island's seawall is about to get a much-needed facelift. Islanders and visitors will begin seeing about 50 sand hauling trucks make their way down Seawall Blvd. this week transporting the first loads of sand for Galveston's emergency sand placement project. The project is slated to place sand on Galveston beaches from 10th Street to 61st Street.

Stellaluna at The Grand January 13th
The Grand 1894 Opera House's 2008-2009 Serious Fun performing arts season continues Tuesday, January 13, with KidsEntertainment's presentation of Stellaluna. Performance times are 10 am and 12 noon. Children of all ages will enjoy the enchanting story of a baby fruit bat who falls into a bird's nest and tries to fit in and be the best bird she can.

Ronana Tynan Returns to the Isle January 17th
Ronan Tynan returns to The Grand for a spectacular solo performance Saturday, January 17, at 8 pm. This performance is sponsored in part by Holliday Builders, Inc. and Saltwater Grill. Tynan, one of the former members of the original world-famous The Irish Tenors, has won American hearts by performing at the 9/11 Memorial Service and at political and sporting events throughout the country. With his magnificent vocal range and depth of emotion, Tynan is equally at home with broken-hearted laments as well as songs of inspiration and rousing crowd-pleasers.
