Galveston Homeschool Performing Arts Co-op was established in 2003 as a non-profit, 501(C)(3)organization to provide comprehensive, high-quality musical education to Galveston area home-educated students. Dance and drama instruction are available throughout the school year.
The music program includes weekly formal lessons in music theory, four choirs, sectional instrumental classes (strings, rhythm band, woodwinds, brass, recorders, percussion) and three bands. The dance/drama program will include courses in introductory dance exposure and drama. Classes are led by both experienced volunteers and paid instructors.
We work hard to keep the costs for families at a minimum. First, we all share the work. Parents with performing arts training and abilities share their expertise with the students. Parents without performing arts background provide help in supporting roles such as Nursey Coordinator and Communications Director. Every family must provide at least one adult to assist with operations. Second way we keep costs down is by fund raising. All families are encouraged to participate in our fund raising activities.
The co-op meets in Galveston once per week during the school year. We have a minimum of two performances for each portion of the co-op. Families may choose to participate in the music portion, in the dance and drama portion or in both portions of the co-op.
Hours of Operation Call ahead for hours.
