26th Annual Galveston Home & Garden Show

WHY:

The Galveston Home and Garden Show, benefitting the Galveston Island Humane Society, features outstanding floral displays, prominent speakers from the Galveston County Master Gardeners, and a host of home improvement professionals. Referred to as the best little home show in the state, visitors will find cutting edge products for gardening, home decor and repairs, meet contractors, green builders, landscaping companies, buy plants, artwork and indoor and outdoor home furnishings. Exhibitors range from floors to windows, interiors and exteriors. Special show discounts on services and merchandise. Come to shop, browse, and learn.

Christopher L. Wiesinger  - Noted horticulturist, founder of Southern Bulb Company, and author of The Bulb Hunter. The New York Times says, “Mr. Wiesinger makes a living finding pretty things in ravaged places. In many ways Mr. Wiesinger represents plant hunting's latest iteration.” Book signing Booth # 528

Tom LeRoy -  Founder of the first Master Gardener Program in Texas, a 35 year career with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, and co-author of 3 gardening books. He will share his expertise in growing fruits and nuts in the South and a common sense approach to vegetable gardening. Book signing Booth # 620

Brenda Beust Smith  The Lazy Gardener, columnist, and author of The Lazy Gardener’s Guide  What to Do Each Month. Learn about native plants and how to maintain a beautiful garden with ease. Cuttings shared with audience.

Michael & Nicole Graham – Founders of The Garden Hen will talk about backyard chickens and maintaining chicken coops. Chickens and Coops will be placed throughout the show.  One on one in Booth # 229

Baxter Williams – A leading authority on growing roses on the Gulf Coast and lifetime member of the Houston Rose Society, Rosarian Baxter Williams will offer his ‘green thumb’ expertise. Currently maintaining more than 400 rose bushes of numerous varieties in his personal garden, he will demonstrate good rose practices and take questions from the audience. The Houston Rose Society will have quality roses for sale at the show. One on one and roses for sale in booth # 525
