Since 2002, the Galveston Island Arts Academy has provided quality arts education and performances for Island citizens and visitors. The property is situated in the historic East End of the Island diagonal from the Garten Verein on Avenue O.
The mission of the Galveston Island Arts Academy is to create an encouraging environment for academic, creative, and performance excellence that will represent the highest standards of teaching, learning, and performance. Teachers will be recruited who are committed to the philosophy that student success evolves through careful lesson preparation, attentive lesson participation, and regular performance practice.

Christine Tuden Neugebauer
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Christine began playing the violin at the age of eight years. Her private instructors included violinists with the Boston Pops and Boston Symphony orchestras. She has played with several orchestras including the Greater Boston Youth Symphony, the Longwood Symphony of Boston , the Brazosport Symphony, and the Lake Charles Symphony. She also spent several summers studying and playing chamber music at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson, NH. Currently, she works as a music therapist at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston , serves as principal second violinist with the Galveston Symphony, and freelances in the Galveston area. Christine is a regular guest violinist for GIAA weddings and special events. This past year she began playing the electric violin to explore other musical genres such as rock, blues, and jazz improvisation.
Christine accepts students of all ages and teaches traditional method of violin playing. She also provides students with learning experiences in music improvisation and duet playing.
