Photo One of Galveston's newest resorts, Escapes! on the Beach at Galveston opened May 24, 2005.

Escapes! offers unobstructed views of the Gulf with private balconies, and a beautiful pool. Rooms are spacious with private bedrooms, sleeper sofas, and kitchens.

Located on the West End, the unique beachfront resort marks an unprecedented public-private partnership between Galveston County and Escapes!, in which the two entities shared resources to construct a beachfront public park and a private, mid-rise condominium on Galveston Island.

The joint projects, on Galveston Island’s West End, include a $16 million, 78-unit condominium resort (the only resort fronting the beach), a newly completed 3,314-square-foot public beach pavilion, an educational wetlands preserve, beach access points and public and private parking. Pavilion amenities include an additional 7,299 square feet of outside decking for a scenic gulf view, picnic facilities, indoor showers, full wheelchair accessibility, a food concession and merchandise sales.

The U-shaped, raised, five-story condominium features a central resort recreation area with a swimming pool overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The combined dramatic structures and lush tropical plantings throughout the development enhance the resort-style tropical setting.

Alexanders9/26/2008 11:11:00 AMMy family stayed at Escapes the first week of April. We met our son and his family who are stationed at Fort Hood, just before he left for Afghanistan. The facility and staff were very nice. We had adjoining suites that were clean and lovely, the fitness center was ok and handy, the pool and beach access were great. April was a bit early in the season for best weather, but we did enjoy our stay. We even stayed an extra night and the staff was very helpful - cost very reasonable.
Scott8/30/2008 10:34:00 PMMe and my wife stayed there the past week (8/24-8/29). It was excellent. Pool was very clean. Elevators were not slow at least on the East side and beach access was great. Only negative was the beach was not the cleanest as the public evidently doesn't believe in throwing away trash, but not Escapes fault.
James8/16/2008 8:48:00 PMService was great throughout our stay. The room, facilites, and pool were ALWAYS clean and well maintained! Beach access and access to local attractions was simply outstanding. The Staff was excellent in dealing with any issues that came up. Fitness center was excellent. Only three minor complaints are: 1) the SLOWWWW elevators. 2) The web pictures do not necessarily show how small the living room is Bedroom size and balcony view of the ocean from EVERY room made up for this! 3) Finally, the daily kids' activities could have been a little better staffed and organized. Escapes WILL be our family vacation location whenever we return to Galveston.
Anne8/2/2008 11:16:00 AMWe had a wonderful time! Great access to the beach! Very clean and comfortable! Staff was very nice and helpful!!
JULIE7/14/2008 3:22:00 PMOur family just got back from galveston on Sunday, July 13,we wanted an upgrade. They stated it would not be more than $200, when in fact they wanted us to pay over $600 + the $1200 we paid. Washer didn't work, had to go home with wet dirty clothes, dryer took about 6 times for one batch of clothes to dry. The ceiling fan almost fell we had to tighten the screws on it for it to stay on the ceiling, the towel rack fell off the wall & we had to work on the garbage desposal for it to work. I asked the front desk if her and, or the prop. manager would try an accomodate us regarding the upgrade, she advised NO, they would not. They have no regard for their guest on whether you come back to this place or not. We will not be coming back here.
Sonja6/13/2008 8:50:00 PMOur family had a wonderful vacation there. Great beach access pool is very nice. My kids had a blast Grounds crew were very helpful We dont live far away from Galveston and I am so glad that this is the place we chose to stay We stayed in a 1 bedroom elite We ended up buying an air mattress for the kids You should never expect the couch bed to be comfortable Was nice to be able to wash my sandy clothes there and not have to bring them home They keep the area very nice My son and I sat on the balcony and saw one of the grounds keeper vaccuming up the trast during the day Terry with maintenance saw I arrived with myself and my 5 year old and 1 year old and came and helped me with all of my luggage I was not expecting the help at all.
Cynthia5/22/2008 2:15:00 PMOur family had a wonderful Spring Break week. The kitchen was well equipped. I was able to have my morning coffee on the balcony & enjoy the wind and sound of the surf. The bedrooms were adequate, the beds comfortable, and the jacuzzi was great! My husband, son, and I were each able to have our own TV, so there were no disagreements about what we were going to watch. Our son enjoyed the pool & we enjoyed being able to walk along the boardwalk to the beach. Although the grounds crew were working on the flower beds, they made sure that there was room to walk around and still be able to use the pool. The only thing that would have made the week perfect would have been perfect weather, but who can predict that?
Dana3/14/2008 11:02:00 AMThe beds were the worst I have ever slept on. Don't come here to sleep and relax. For the price we could have stayed just down the road and have great beds. Cell phone reception is intermittent. There were no towels left in our room. The sofa bed mattress was about 2 inches thick and the cross bars went right thru my childrens backs. There is no television in the bedroom, So the children have to watch what the adults watch. They got our reservations messed up and wanted us to check out 1 day earlier because they had already re-leased it. Overall the room is nice kitchen and bath very nice. The other thing that disappointed us was the construction around the pool, haven't they had plenty of time to do this before spring break?
