Clear Water
The orange ball of the sun balanced on the horizon line, mirrored in the glassy water. The world was silent, except for the faint sound of the surf ski slicing through the water, and occasional gulls as they flew by.

The Galveston Symphony Orchestra began the season with its traditional soft opening which always features a "Pops Concert". However, if this rollicking collection of favorites is an indicator of the upcoming season, then music lovers are in for a real treat.

More Smoke and Furor
Well folks, Lorraine has good news for some and not so good for others – BUT if you have booked a Carnival Cruise departing October 1 or after, DO NOT plan on having sex and a “ciggie” after on your private balcony!

Historic Churches Abound on Galveston Island
While cruising aimlessly around the island from time to time as I am wont to do, I’m frequently awestruck by the sheer number of stately, generations-old churches that populate Galveston.

While there is a lot to do in Galveston, it's also a place where it feels comfortable to do little. At 10.4 miles long, the seawall lining the Gulf of Mexico is the world's longest continuous sidewalk and attracts walkers, joggers, bicyclists, surfers, sunbathers, skaters and sightseers year-round. It's a great place to exercise or just sit to watch a flock of brown pelicans skim across the waves at sunset.
