Another world and Texas Premier at the Strand Theatre featuring another great play written by Texans! Don't miss Merkel, playing at Strand Theatre May 23 - June 15, 2008.
It's about a little town in Texas called Merkel. . . It's a 2 woman musical with lots of people. . . some are psychic; some are nuts; all are hilarious!! You don't have to be from Texas to enjoy it.
This reviewer says, "... brilliant and funny, the music is witty and beautiful, and the story and characters are completely charming and engaging! I was enthralled! You are going to love this show! What is most exciting to me is that Patti and Julia came up with all of the music and characters and the story-line... It's just all so well-done and professional. I was holding back tears at a few points and laughing out loud constantly. The scenes where they use video are HILARIOUS! It's done newscast style, so don't miss the crawler at the bottom of the video. But what is staying with me is the music - it's brilliant and funny and poignant. You'll love it."
Showtimes are Friday & Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2:30pm. Ticket prices range from $22-$10, and may be purchased online here, The Strand Theatre box office located at 2317 Ships Mechanic Row, or charged by phone at (409) 763-4591.

About Strand Theatre...
The Strand Theatre is a not for profit corporation chartered in the State of Texas in 1978. The Strand Theatre, then "The Strand Street Theatre," began producing theatrical productions in 1977. In May 1978, the organization moved to its present location at 2317 Ship's Mechanic Row. In January 1982, through a generous grant from the Moody Foundation, the property was purchased as a permanent home for the theatre in the midst of Galveston's newly revitalized Strand Historic District.
