Saturday & Sunday, July 5-6, 2008
9am - Noon

Learn to surf or improve your surfing skills this summer with Billabong Camps presented by Ohana Surf Camps. In 2007 Ohana produced 19 surf camps with over 500 students successfully completing the program.

Let us share our passion for surfing and knowledge of the sport with you in 2008. We have assembled a group of experienced watermen and women to serve as instructors who share our enthusiasm for the sport of surfing and love for the ocean. Our model of teaching is based on a “safety first attitude,” so get ready for a summer of fun.

Your child will be met each morning by their own Ohana Surf Camp instructor on the beach between 28th and 29th street on Seawall Boulevard on beautiful Galveston Island. This is an excellent site with good waves, a sandy bottom, and a safe environment for learning to surf. In addition to the professional staff of Ohana Surf Camp's, there is a Galveston Beach Patrol lifeguard on staff and on site each camp day. In addition to our own lifeguard on site, two Galveston Beach Patrol lifeguards are on duty at the 27th and 29th street jetties from 9:00 a.m. until the end of the day.

Through out the surf camp experience we have several people join us to teach our campers about the Gulf of Mexico and its inhabitants. A marine biologist will attend one day to teach the students about sea life, and create ‘hands on’ experiences by bringing and catching sea life for the campers to safely handle. Along with other beach activities - during flat spells, we also have a forecaster from Surfline.com attend to explain how waves are generated here along the Texas Gulf Coast and around the world.

A photo keepsake program, goodie bags, and pizza party on the last day - undoubtedly we have one of the most exciting, comprehensive, progressive surf camp programs on the Gulf Coast and we encourage you to visit more of our web site pages here, or call upon our experienced staff at Ohana Surf & Skate for more information. Dial (409)763-2700 now.

We look forward to see you for another "Summer of Fun."

Camps are held 9am - noon. Weekday camps are $139; weekend camps are $99. Download camp registration and camp release forms here.

About Ohana Surf and Skate...

Ohana Surf & Skate, located across from one of the most popular Galveston surf breaks (The Flagship) and adjacent to the future Galveston Skatepark, has a 180-degree view of the beach from its spacious 3800 sq. ft. retail space while also offering an in-store lounge where specialty coffee and packaged refreshments are provided.

Additionally, Ohana has the only Live Surf Cam with Streaming Video which scans the Flagship to 29th St. jetty, for surfers in need of juicy Galveston waves.

Located at 28th & Seawall Boulevard and on the route from major hotels or on the way to the historic strand-shopping district, Ohana launched its initial contemporary Hawaiian surf / skate boutique in the spring of ‘05.

Ohana’s product mix is balanced between men’s/young men’s, women’s/jr’s, and youth (boy’s/girl’s) surf and skate apparel from Volcom, Split, Lost, Ezekiel, Krew, Adio and more...all of which is merchandised in coordinate groups for easy styling for the fashion forward customer.

Ohana offers clinics with the purchase of a surfboard or skateboard package if needed. Ohana Surf Camps include information on water safety, protecting our resources and the basics of surfing, while their Skate Clinics focus on injury prevention, as well as the basics. The programs are intended to teach the fundamental skills needed to get the board activist headed in the right direction.

“We want our store to be the center of the growing youth surf and skate movement here along the Gulf Coast,” notes owners Mike Dean and William “Boog” Cram. “We want to deliver to the active family more information and service with the sale -- Guaranteed!”
