island e.t.c. presents Stephen Sonheim and John Weidman's Assassins, July 18th thru August 16th, 2008. Assassins is a ground-breaking American musical based on an idea by Charles Gilbert Jr. It uses the premise of a murderous carnival game to produce a revue-style portrayal of men and women who attempted to assassinate Presidents of the United States; the music varies to reflect the popular music of the eras depicted. Assassins delves into the question of whether or not the real life assassins actually made the changes they had hoped to accomplish. First opening Off-Broaday in 1990, the Broadway revival won five 2004 Tony Awards.
Performances will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm. Tickets are $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for students and senior citizens.
