Sarah9/6/2008 11:52:00 AMEvery time we enter this restaurant we are blown away. Madrid is like a gem in Galveston Island. The wine selection is all Spanish, so being a slight wine snob, I know it's hard to keep every wine in stock. Don't blame them! Definitely best wine selection in Galveston! Also, their tapas are amazing and are so cheap! The music, atmosphere, waitstaff and manager are some of the most friendly on the island! You should absolutely check it out!
Galveston Guy8/3/2008 8:56:00 AMThis was our third attempt to give this place a chance. It should be perfect. The music is fantastic but the band took so many breaks-each time they took a break, half the customers left. It was Saturday night and there was maybe 8 customers. The wine list is too expensive. Conveniently, the less expensive wines were out of stock. The only customers at the bar were the bartenders friends. Meanwhile, across the street, Club 21 is packed and the place to be-just go there!
David Power6/9/2008 1:08:00 PMMadrid Tapas and Wine Bar has very ambitious food and wine menus. It is one of the few places in Galveston that vegetarians can find something substantial to eat alongside meat-eaters. My favourite wines there are Las Brisas Blanc and Pago Florentino. I look forward to the professional Jazz Music on Friday and Saturday nights; a weekly event that is free to attend. They also have special event wine tastings throughout the year (paired with food); Italian, South African, etc.
weekender6/2/2008 4:40:00 PMMy wife and I came here based on a recommendation from a group of Tiki Island folks and we absolutely loved it. This is a place where you can experience a romantic evening in an upscale environment or enjoy with a large group in the mood for good wine and live Jazz. They were busy the saturday we went with quite a few large groups celebrating so I would recommend reservations if you are going during prime time hours.
Austinite5/17/2008 10:36:00 PMThe food was good and the atmosphere was lovely, as was the jazz. However, we waited more than 30 minutes for our food before we were told that the kitchen was out of one of the items we ordered. We then waited another 15-20 minutes before we got the dishes we did order. The service was very disappointing.
Jazzman3/18/2008 9:27:00 PMOver the past 6 months this place has upgraded it service and food quality. The atmosphere is wonderful and the entertainment of jazz music help make the place a great gathering place in Galveston. They do special nights like during Mardi Gras and special Wine Tasting so I recommend you checking it out. I believe that you will enjoy it.
