Making Galveston Beaches Accessible for Everyone

The Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees is honored to assist with making the beach accessible to people that would not otherwise be able to enjoy a day on the beach. Wheelchairs are designed for use on the thick beach sand and are available to the beach-going public as a community service.

Wheelchair can be requested on a first come first serve basis at the toll booth when entering the beach park and will then be issued by the beach park managers or park supervisors.

The chairs are free of charge as a public service; simply present a valid driver license to the park manager on duty. Due to limited availability, chairs my only be used in designated sites.

Wheelchairs are available for use from Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend and in the off-season by appointment at Stewart Beach.

As part of this community outreach program, there are signs posted on the Seawall notifying the public at 61st Street, 53rd Street, 29th Street, Stewart Beach, East Beach and Dellanera Park; where wheelchairs can also be requested at the front desk.

For more information on the use and availability of beach wheelchairs please contact beach park managers.
