Reenactor Guidelines

The Battle of Galveston is one of the few battles of the Civil War that actually occurred in the State of Texas. For this reason, the 19th-Century Living History Association, Inc. and the First Texas Brigade will strive to make it as authentic and historically accurate as possible. It is expected that participants in this event, likewise, portray an impression of Confederate or Federal combatant or Civilian resident during the Battle of Galveston. Therefore, guidelines have been established for all participants to ensure that the historical aspect of the event is maintained for the proper commemoration of the Battle and its actual participants.

Under no circumstances will modern anachronisms be condoned. The wearing of any modern apparel, footwear, eye wear or jewelry will not be allowed. Apparel consisting of buckskin construction, linen hunting smocks, battle shirts, early US War apparel, Indian War apparel, moccasins, tennis shoes, work boots, hiking boots and cowboy boots, or other foot ware of that nature, are all prohibited.

All long arms will be three banded rifle muskets. Pistols will be carried by Officers only. Under no circumstances will Civilians carry arms of any type.
