Longtime boat captain Ric Legge and Deanna VanPatten recently uncorked Bacchus Wine Bar at 2404 Strand, between JuJu Hangout Bar & The Mediterranean Chef.
Bacchus is named for the Roman god of wine, intoxication and debauchery, and sells hard-to-find products from around the world. Bacchus includes a 30-foot bar and a pub atmosphere, and the owners have said they plan to offer live music.
Bacchus patrons will also enjoy truffles, assorted desserts and sampler plates of fruit, cheese and nuts provided by downtown eatery Speculoos Patisserie & Cafe (2228 Mechanic St.), owned by Frank and Becky Kastelz.

We met Ric and he was very pleasant and personable. The place is wonderful! The decor is very comfortable and welcoming and the cheese tray was to die for! We loved the wine selection and the friendly service. And the fact that it's a non-smoking facility, makes it extra nice. |
