Galveston Island Celebrates Easter

[ April 5, 2012 ] - Galveston celebrates Easter with a number of events across the Island. From celebratory buffets to Easter Egg Hunts to boat tours to splashing at a waterpark, we've got you covered for one unforgettable Easter celebration!

Easter at Moody Gardens

Grab your Easter baskets and head on over to Moody Gardens on Sunday, April 8th. From free entertainment at Easter in the Gardens to delicious buffets in both the Garden Restaurant and the Moody Gardens Hotel, this is sure to be a holiday you will not want to miss out on.

Join in on the fun at Easter in the Gardens from noon to 3:30pm! Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny will be hopping around property to meet all of the kids. Kids ages 12 and under can participate in two Easter egg hunts at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. A variety of activities will be available including arts and crafts and games for the entire family. A petting zoo and face painting will add to a day of fun.

Be sure to take time and relax by allowing Moody Gardens to cook for you! Dine in either the Garden Restaurant or the Moody Gardens Hotel with exquisite buffets that are sure to not disappoint. The Garden Restaurant will be seating guests at 11am, noon, 1:30pm, and 3pm.Reservations are requested and can be made by calling 1-800-582-4673 ext. 4238. Adults are $21.95, seniors $17.95 Children (5-12) $11.95 and Children 4 and under are free with a complimentary adult purchase. Meanwhile, he Moody Gardens Hotel offer their Easter buffet from 11:30am to 3pm. Seating will be available every 30 minutes. Enjoy dishes including roasted leg of lamb with fresh herbs, chilled gulf shrimp and crab claws and a large dessert table perfect for any sweet tooth. Adults are $42.95, seniors $32.95, children (4-12) $19.95 and under children under 3 are free.

Easter Brunch at Mario's Seawall

Mario's Seawall Italian Restaurant will offer an unforgettable Easter Brunch from 10am to 4pm. Enjoy an omelette station, mimosas and sangria, traditional breakfast & Italian favorites. Easter, Greek-Style!

Celebrating Easter in Mediterranean fashion will be Olympia Grill on Seawall Boulevard and Olympia The Grill at Pier 21. The Seawall location will feature an array of delectable treats, including roasted leg of lamb, chicken & veggie k-bobs, grilled Gulf flounder, veal parmesan, and more. (For a full menu, click here.) Meanwhile, the Pier 21 location will kick off Easter with goodieslike grilled octopus and oyster Greco. Featured entrees will include salmon Alexandria, a filet duo of beef and shrimp; and a fried trio of shrimp, fish, and oysters. (Download full menu here.) With delicious cuisine and glorious views of either the Gulf or Galveston's harbor, either location will offer a spectacular Easter experience.

An Easter Egg Hunt...for Adults!

Grown-ups will have their own opportunity to feel like a kid again Easter Sunday at Riptide Surf Bar. From 3pm to 7pm, you're invited to take part in the beach bar's 2nd Annual Adult Easter Egg Hunt.Relax to spectacular views of the Gulf, and enjoy drink specials and surf-themed cocktails from the beach-front porch. The backyard Tiki Bar is pooch friendly adding to the laid back atmosphere of Riptide. Riptide is located at 904 Avenue M, just off Seawall Boulevard.

Additional Easter Weekend Highlights

Of course, the fun on Galveston Island won't just happen on Easter Sunday! There are a number of other events all weekend long!

First, you're invited to channel your inner Van Gogh with Artist Boat Kayak Adventures! Choose from a number of scheduled tours of the Island's most pristine locations all weekend long. Artist Boat is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment through the disciplines of the sciences and the arts.

Both Saturday and Sunday, the Colonel at Moody Gardens will feature cruises at 1pm and 3pm. The charming 800-passenger paddlewheel boat will offer hour-long cruises of sparkling Offatts Bayou, in the shadows of the magificent Pyramids.

The World's number-one rated indoor waterpark will be open all weekend long! Guests of Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark can enjoy more than a dozen heated climate-controlled attractions between the park hours of 10 am to 5pm, Easter Friday thru Easter Sunday.
